Talking about ‘your bits’!

We all have private parts so why are we embarrassed to talk about them? Private Parts is a new exhibition at the at Thackray Museum of Medicine in Leeds. The exhibition seeks to create a grown-up, comfortable space to talk about uncomfortable things – from going to the doctors to talk about ‘your bits’, to getting it on with whoever (and however) you want to.

We were asked by the Thackray to collaborate with Leeds based illustrator Bobby Rae to produce 3 animations which acknowledge and celebrates health, identity, and pleasure in all its forms.

Based on Health, Intimacy and Identity our animations discuss important and sometimes serious topics in a lighthearted way using aubergines, plums and even a grapefruit on a banana boat…why not!

We provided the storyboarding, frame by frame animation, sound management and script writing collaborating with the Thackray and with help from people who have shared their diverse lived experiences to get people talking confidently and inclusively about sex and our bodies, particularly the parts that you might usually keep hidden away.

Hungry Sandwich Club were bloody brilliant. We had a tight timescale to deliver an artist lead animation project and HSC pulled it out of the bag. They really got what we wanted, always came armed with a positive can-do attitude and delivered us a piece that was full of character. Ten out of ten, we’d absolutely work with them again.
