One whole year since the last ‘Sound of the Studio’!!!
This month we’ve got four albums that we think you should hit up this March.
Here’s what each of us Sandwiches have been listening to the most this month:
I’m still playing The Nationals ‘Sleep Well Beast’ which came out last September. I’d recommend the songs ‘Guilty Party’ and “The System dreams in total darkness’ which are two songs that really stand out on an outstanding 7th studio album. Super cool to see design studio Pentagram getting involved with the albums packaging, giving the brand a corporate style brand and logo based on the barn where the band recorded the album.
My pick is LCD Soundsystem’s ‘American Dream’.
My favourite track on the album is Tonite, loud, loads of energy and really uplifting – my favourite kind of music.
They are amazing live, I was so excited when they got back together and toured this year, I managed to get lucky with some tickets to see them at The Warehouse Project in Manchester and it was my gig of last year.
I’m going to pick a classic on my first Sound of Studio: ‘Midnight Marauders’, released in 1993 by one of the greatest hip hop bands: A Tribe Called Quest. It’s hard to choose between all the songs, but I think I never get tired of listening to “Electric Relaxation”, a flashback to the golden ages of hip hop!
Earlier this year two of my favourite artists Waxahatchee and Kevin Morby collaborated on this amazing cover of Songs: Ohia’s Farewell Transmission. It’s become one of my favourite tracks of the year and the original has had just as many plays in the studio since!
